Telos Spark Hackathon — Message from the Judges
It is a fantastic time for Telos, and we are at the forefront of what we can expect from our vibrant community. The outcomes of the Spark Hackathon are beyond our expectations, to be very honest, and it is great to see how many skilled people are a part of it.
To start, here are some metrics and figures we would love to share:
- 156 participants registered (defined as a unique individual, of which some joined teams to work on their project)
- A total of 52 projects are on the Taikai platform:
- 26 active projects (of which we moved one to an Ignite-Proposal immediately), so 25 projects are eligible for our votes.
- 17 remained in draft status and were not submitted
- 9 are not qualified or deleted (either by the project team or us)
We have to say that we had to remove some SPAM projects or pure advertisements, but this is a normal process.

As a side note, some projects have deployed on Telos EVM Mainnet, so you may want to be cautious for now as we have not validated the source code of these projects.
Easy, low-cost deployment on Mainnet clearly shows how easy it is to build on our EVM, which was the ultimate goal of the Hackathon!
We are now in the process of determining the 5 finalists for the Hackathon. Judging is a difficult task, as the projects are very different, and we take very different angles to look at them. Therefore, we requested further information, contracts, and clarification on topics to grant equal opportunity to all participants.
There are various promising projects beyond the participants, including NFT-Mints, Yield Optimizer, AMM/DEX, and DAO-Tools, such as an expense refund solution (pssst: one of my personal favorites). Of course, the nature of the projects is exceptionally different, but this is encouraging for us as it shows the limitless opportunities for Telos.

Each Jury member received 10,000 Taikai tokens (20% of the total pool) for the first voting round, and these will be distributed independently by each member to determine the shortlist.
Today, April 11. the five Hackathon finalists will be selected, and phase two of the voting process begins.
We will take the time to receive a presentation/elevator pitch of the top five projects and dig deeper into the code and business model. Once we have seen all, we will assign our round two tokens (200,000 more) to determine the three winners! This process will end on April 22. with an official announcement.
